50 Best Autumn Movies

Autumn is just around the corner! Time to make your place cozy, light some candles, have a hot cup of tea and be ready for a long movie night while outside is raining and quite cold.

Here comes my list of autumn movies that you can enjoy right now. Some of them you might already saw, some will be new.

1. When Harry Met Sally

This iconic romantic comedy pairs Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal as friends who slowly, over the course of many years and relationships, discover that they might just be perfect for each other.

2. Dead Poets Society

There’s something innately autumnal about going back to school—even if you’re only in class for the duration of this 1989 classic about a prep school teacher (Robin Williams) who sets out to inspire his students to shake off stuffy tradition and come into their own.

3. Scent of a Woman

5. Autumn In New York

This NYC love story stars Richard Gere as a womanising restauranteur who finds himself falling in love with a quirky young woman (Winona Ryder).

6. You’ve Got Mail

Joe Fox (Tom Hanks), the scion of a bookstore empire, writes in his anonymous emails to his virtual penpal and real life rival Kathleen Kelly. This well-known movie will allow you to get lost in some nostalgia for autumn in NYC, your favourite neighbourhood bookstore, and of course the iconic, defunct America Online email alert as enemies become friends and find love in the most unlikely places.

7. Practical Magic

This story is about sisters Sally and Gillian who have to cope with their family history of both heartbreak and witchcraft when Gillian’s abusive ex-boyfriend brings law enforcement and the supernatural to their door.

8. October Sky

Based on a true story, this inspiring story follows teen Homer Hickam (Jake Gyllenhaal) as he pursues his passion for rocket science and dreams of the stars in his repressive, coal mining hometown in the 1950s.

9. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry, Ron and Hermoine return to Hogwarts just as they learn about Sirius Black and his plans to kill Harry. However, when Harry runs into him, he learns that the truth is far from reality.

10. Sweet November

Free-spirited Sara has one month—no more, no less—to change ego-centric, workaholic Nelson’s life. When it’s time to say goodbye, they both discover they don’t want to.

11. Matilda

50. Gilmore Girls

I think these series are the most autumn related must-watch during cold season. The story is about Lorelai Gilmore, an independent young woman, who shares a close bond with her wilful daughter, Rory. However, her relationship with her own mother is strained.
