M any people, who can’t imagine their life without fashion, who read fashion news every day and who remember the whole history of fashion, they know that the most important moment has come. Which one? Paris Haute Couture Spring/Summer Week 2019!
❤️ what are the brightest highlights for the Couture Week?
❤️ what are the dominant colors in the collections?
❤️ what was the idea behind each collection?
❤️ is it true: love from the first sight?
The inspiration to create such a beautiful and artistic collection comes from the metaphor of circus. The fashion designer of Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri, was influenced by the brilliant art works made by Pablo Picasso, Richard Avedon, Cindy Sherman, Jean Cocteau, as well as by the costumes of Gérard Vicaire. The fashion show was accompanied by Mimbre, London’s troupe of professional circus women-acrobats, who did the amazing performance alongside with the models. The collection takes us back to the Spring/Summer ’19 collection presented by Dior last year, where the models were walking while the dancers were showing the play acting. The Dior Haute Couture collection itself is a real colorful magic with the impressive and very bright fashion looks. We love the black dress with the red big circles, the grey-beige dress with moons, stars, divines, pink glittering boots, as well as glittering covering. For sure, love from the first sight.
“To have a face covered with flowers like a heavenly garland would indeed be a wonderful thing! And if she could make flowers spread all over her face, she would be the only woman of her kind in the whole world” – Elsa Schiaparelli
The idea of the Haute Couture Schiaparelli fashion show was based on Elsa’s memories from childhood and flowers. Bertrand Guyon presented the light and pure collection using such colors as lilac, purple, bright and dark blue, white, rose, bright pink and yellow. Falling in love and craziness with the white-pink long dress, the lilac-purple with red flower petals dress, the black flower-based dress and the bright rose dress with a silk bow. Check the looks!
IRIS VAN HERPEN
Van Herpen’s inspiration to create an unusual fashion collection “Shift Souls” can be found at the junction of historical and artistic refs. The 3D movements of vermillion, the waves of ocher and purple, the cloud-like dresses and the futuristic patterns were so spectacular and tremendous. You can see femininity, softness, light, brightness, love, feminine beauty. The models were being presented as real divines.
“Yves Saint Laurent captured the atmosphere of the French maisons de la haute couture I was dreaming about when I decided to move to Paris to become a couturier. That attitude only exists here in Paris, a sort of posture of the mind, a nervous silhouette, décomplexée” – Giamba Valli
The astonishing collection of Giambattista Valli Haute Couture was presented recently. The creative idea comes from the works of genius Yves Saint Laurent (by which the fashion designer Giamba Valli took inspiration from). This time Giambattista Valli discovered a tremendous sense of balance. The Haute Couture collection was played as a game of opposites of interesting silhouettes with original blooms. We love the red dresses as well as pink and white ones.
RALPH & RUSSO
“I was inspired by María Félix. She was the most famous Mexican diva of all time; I love her passion, her charisma, her sensuality” – Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo
The fashion show was really wonderful and so extravagant. In love with the green wool crepe tailored body-con pantsuit, the bright rose dress, the black dress with hearts, and of course the last look, the amazing bride dress wore by Elsa Hosk.
The fashion show of Alexandre Vauthier made a huge WOW thanks to Céline Dion, who came to see the Haute Couture collection. Despite the huge paparazzi, the collection was so bright and cool. Many white blooming-like dresses, coats, leopard print looks.
The atmosphere of the fashion show Armani Privé was felt closer to the idealized cinematic world. When you look at the collection, it makes you feel like you are in the book “The Great Gatsby” written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald. The colors, the forms, the unbelievable feminine hats – everything just so Armani.
The new Haute Couture Chanel show was inspired by warm summer days, blooming gardens and the 18th century. We were again transported to the world that Karl Lagerfeld has created. Especially surprising was the last look of a bride, wearing a swimsuit. Would you get married in a swimsuit? The extraordinary designs were so fluffy, beautiful, light and sparkly. Definitely must-watch!

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
The emphasis of the Haute Couture was shifted to a series of dresses demonstrating the traditions of Parisian fashion, without any eccentricity seen elsewhere. The well-known Dita Von Teese arrived on the runway in a suitable seductive black dress. The fashion looks were truly fascinating and regarded to the sea topic.
“Oui, c’est le rêve! It’s a dream of luminous mermaids emerging from the waves and promenading along the sea” – Elie Saab
Inspiration comes from the marine life. [Did you watch the fim Aquaman?] Evening dresses of underwater gardens bloomed on delicate sweets made of pure pleated tulle, organza and iridescent taffeta. The corals were delicately embroidered with small silver sparkles on thin ball gowns.
“You don’t invent color, but you can invent new harmonies for color” – Pierpaolo Piccioli
I love Valentino. Every collection. So what to say? The Haute Couture SS ’19 collection was a real magic. A lot of beautiful, bright, light, pure dresses, which we all would love to wear. It was a triumph. In the end the TOP model closed the Haute Couture Valentino show wearing a black dress.
VIKTOR & ROLF
Sorry I’m late I didn’t want to come
I am my own muse
Less is more
Leave me alone
Viktor & Rolf presented the fashion statements above and more during the Paris Haute Couture Week. What do you think about them? There were 18 out of the box and definitely stunning fashionable dresses. “No photos please!”
The sea life of mermaids and different creatures enchanted many fashion designers during the Paris Haute Couture Week. Nothing seems unusual, underwater life is the most popular topic to be inspired by during spring and summer seasons. Zuhair Murad presented this time many wonderful and beautiful dresses, both long and short.
Silver dresses, white makeup, unsual and awesome fashion looks, full of the power of sea waves, light white “water-like” and glitter pearls, Olivier Rousteing showed us again the astonishing Haute Couture collection. What is couture in ’19? You have the answer from Balmain.
